so I hit a tree the other day while riding and broke the lever , where it bolts on to the handlebars. its about 150 for a new set ... must i use elixir mag cr lever or can i mix and match ... while im at it maybe theres a better brake to try out ?

I think all of the elixirs are interchangable in terms of hose fittings, so If you can get a hold of another Elixer lever you should be able to use the existing hose and caliper.

I'm pretty sure cuz their manual covers all Elixers, but just to be safe I would Call or Email Avid(SRAM) to make sure.

here you can buy a replacement Master cylinder lever assembly this place is a wholesaler not sure if they sell on a particular basis

The CR Mag lever is not cheap but they got the elixir R lever for $79, just look at all the available levers from the drop down box

Just for future reference, you should keep your brake levers snug not tight so that in a crash they swivel as opposed to break from the direct impact.

thanks for all the links! and i actually had the one loose i just hit it so hard it never had a chance ... but now my other lever is broken it snapped off during a ride i didnt crash that side ever im kinda hoping avid will warrant the one ?
