Slacked out steel HT

Are there any off the shelf steel frame options?

I'm after something like this:

HTA: 69.5
STA: 72
CS: 17" (or close)
Geared option, for long (120mm) fork

Or am I going to have to go custom?

Cheers

A 71/73 or 72/74 frame designed for a 80mm fork would be close with a 120mm fork installed

yah, but might whack out the BB height
The EWR OWB 29er is about 70.5 with a 100mm fork. Put a 120 on and you'd probably get 69.5

True, but for the cost you could afford to shop around on customs.

Not really a factor with the long travel fork.

IMO the whole bike would be whacked out, but it would not be my ride

yep, it would whack out the BB height. And normally those frames simply aren't constructed to handle a long fork's stresses (hence voiding the warranty).

waltworks (to use one example) or some other affordable custom route would be my suggestion.

As Shiggy noted: Throw a 120 fork on a Monkey and go have fun.
For my peace of mind, how safe is putting a 120 (Reba Team) fork on a frame designed for an 80mm?

I would have thought TT & DT torsional forces would be considerably greater and possibly beyond the remit of the frame
It's not steel but it has the desired geo: Banshee Paradox

Wow!

That looks exactly what I'm after

And. It's only £400 delivered to my UK doorstep (from the UK supplier)

I was after the compliance of steel... The seat stays are bent, and there is no brace inbetween them at the top. Is this to give some rear triangle compliance?

SINISTER.
Again, not steel, but one sweet ride.
If somebody would like to buy me a frame, it's #1 on my list. PM me if interested.
hah-hah.

I like the look of the Simon Bar too. But it's listed as 71.5 HTA and that's not quite slacked out enough for what I was after. However it doesn't list what fork thet figure is with

Yup, allegedly so. The seat- and chainstays feature "shock block" and are ribbed: http://www.bansheebikes.com/technical.html (you have to scroll down to see the relevant description).

Frames are supposed to be shipped to dealers within the next two weeks. I heard a rumor saying the first batch will comprise 50 frames only. They come in team polished/orange and black/white. I really can't wait to get this frame!!!!.

They designed that back when forks had the old offset - I'm sure if you ordered one you could get it how you wanted it. Hell the "stock geometry" may already be different anyway.

Visit the Sinister Bikes forum via their web site and inquire - they have an Ask FTW forum on there for such questions.
