Skinny Tubeless Tires

801 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Gotta Know
I am looking for the skinniest UST (or comparable) tubeless tires for 26" mountain bike. Low (fast) tread pattern is preferred but I could cut knobs on a "mud" type tire.

I am racing the Trans Iowa and want/need fst and skinny tire. Don't want to run tubes and don't trust tube type tires run tubeless.

Thanks,
Brett

Not that narrow but the Schwalbe Furious Fred 2.00 tubeless would do well, and only 465g.

The Nobby Nick 1.80 is available in UST but the FF would be faster.
I have the Bontrager Jones XR team issue and they are TLR and are pretty narrow and fast. They also come in right at claimed weight of 485.

Schwable's skinny jimmy's (if you can find some) are well skinny or you could go with a set of Schwable' Fast Fred 2.0's. I have a furious fred 2.0 and it is skinny
Stans NoTube Crow 26 x 2.0 are tubeless ready and as low as 365 grams (plus ~50 grams sealant). Not super narrow but fast and light.

Only when used on a Notubes rim. The bead shape is no different than a standard tire, though the number of strands in the bead have been increased.

They work on rims other than NoTubes rims.

I ran the Raven's on my SpeedDisc rims (using Gorilla tape to seal the spoke holes) and they seated perfectly and never burped even down to the low 20's psi. They also held air perfectly and I never had a leak around the bead.

If you compare a UST Rim and a WTB Rim with the Global Bead Seat, they have a similar (read...not identical) inner shelf. I recommended them because IMO they will work very well on a UST rim based on my experience with them on my rims.

I was told by Mike B. in so many words that The Crow should not be used without tubes on Mavic UST rims without also using the Stans rim strips.
