Did you use the front of the sled for the XM-L and the back for the driver?
It's a smart idea, and then you can place your switches and cable wherever you want.
It's less work than fitting everything in a small sled.

I bet George is hoping there will be a bunch of these made!

Yes, I used a reflector mount for the bar mount. I used a Laura RS that I got from Newark.com but I managed to break the corner test fitting it. A few more are on order.

The black tubing, I found at work in the scrap pile. It was part of a security fence I believe.

The XML is on a "L" bracket that has a 8mm slug of aluminum glued to it. The Lflex sits on the bottom of the housing.

That is a nice effective first build concept, for sure.

Heat. Proof is in the operation. If it runs cool enough, epoxy be darned! If not. a disc sander and drill will remove it. Polished Al can look cool an BE cool(er). The idea of sneaking a chunk of chair leg off someone's chair to build this... priceless!

Esp[ecially if they were drinking and in the loo when you do it! :thumbsup:

I know it's a little rough and the black aluminum is not the best for heat transfer, but I wanted to test out the design before I cut up my good raw aluminum stock.

During my testing, the thermal protection of the Lflex cut the power at 70c and the case temp. was 60c. Not perfect thermal transfer but not too bad either.

As many here have said, a little airflow goes a long way. With a small desk fan blowing on the light the thermal protection never kicked after one hour on high.

All of my testing may be for nothing since most of my night rides here in N.C. are in temps near or below 50F. Testing was done indoors @ 70F.
