I went with the 1Up Quik Rack single for my 1.25" hitch. It is the most compact rack both tilted-up and in-use. It allows me to open the hatch on my car without tilting the rack down. It also does not block the view of my brake lights or license plate. Car is a VW Golf Sportwagen.

The Inno rack does not look sturdy in MTBR's video.

The Thule has a 37.5 lb max bike weight rating. If I ever get an E-bike, I could not use this rack. It's not very compact while tilted up when not in use either.

I didn't see any significant advantages to the Equip-D for a single rack with 1.25 inch receiver.

There are a couple other options too...
Saris MTR-1. I was tempted to get this one. I prefer the threaded hitch pin and it seems to be reasonably stable. It's a large rack though. Also very little information from users.

Quikr Stuff. I may have went with this if it was available though it is really expensive.

Does the threaded hitch pin make the rack less likely to wobble when you're driving? A wobbly rack really bugs me.
In my experience, yes. My 1Up rack retention ball thingy will loosen a bit when driving on rough roads, high winds, or high speed. The rack hasn't fallen off or moved out of the hitch any but I do have to tighten it more often than I would like. When the retention ball is tight, there is no rack wobble at all.

I have an old Thule T2 rack with a solid 1.25" hitch bar and threaded hitch pin that never loosens regardless of road conditions, wind or speed. This rack also has zero wobble.

I have the saris racks for my car and they make a 2 bike rack that takes up the same about of room as a 1 bike rack from most manufacturers it is nice as it grabs the tires, come with a locking cable integrated, antirock hitch pin, etc. Quite low profile when closed.

Not exactly what you are looking for but it leaves you open to bring a friend or bail out someone if needed.

I live near the coast. I bought a 1-Up about 5 years ago. I can't comment on any other racks, because this one has been flawless. It can be a little awkward reaching through to tilt the rack w the bike on, but new improvements offer a lever on the outside for this. It's a tad awkward to undo the ratchet latch to get the bike off, but once you learn it, it's quick. Made in USA, never corrodes, no plastic pieces, and parts to upgrade or fix is why I went 1-Up. I have a 1 1/2 hitch with 2 racks, often run 1, and will buy the 3rd to add on once my son grows more.

There's also Saris, but I'd get the 1up with a 2" stinger if you have a 2" receiver hitch. I wouldn't bother with the Equip-D for 1 bike.

I just bought this 1 1/4" hitch for $99 as a stop gap while deciding if I will join the wait list on QuickR... so far I am happy with it. It's a little heavy but manageable. The weak point on this rack is the pivoting part that grabs the tire. The bottom part that connects to the base is made of pot metal and it feels it will break at some point. I have seen reviews on amazon with pictures of it broken.

If you have the funds and time to wait, the Quikrstuff Mach 2 is pretty nice.
I have the 4 bike combo,
  • They're a small shop, very focused on detail, and the build quality reflects that.
  • The patents the inventor (Cal) filed and implemented on this version truly are an upgrade to the original 1up
  • The ease of adding/removing trays has been well thought out
  • The ability to locate and use the pivoting trigger is miles ahead of 1up
  • There's an actual key (cylindrical lock) that is used for all parts of the rack. no need for multiple long shackle locks
  • Plus you’re supporting a US manufacturing business.
My reasons for Quikrstuff vs the 1up?
Basically, I wasn't impressed with how 1up had removed Cal from his own company (regardless of how clueless he is with business language, he was still an engineer with tons of good ideas). 1up did not have any plans to release an upgraded version of the rack. This pattern of zero change was evident through my ownership of other racks. When 1up announced new models and incremental upgrades, I had the FOMO, but I was determined to wait out for Cal's product.

Yes, the hit to my wallet and the associated wait was excruciating, but in the end, the final product works better than advertised.

How long was your wait for the Quikrstuff?

The initial Inquiry to Cal was June 2018. Then silence for a few years.
Finally, he got smart, threw in the towel, and licensed out his product to quikrstuff.
Because of where I was on the initial waitlist, I wasn't able to place my order until September 2020.
I received the product in August 2021. (To be fair, the company was just starting out, plus Covid, delivery issues, aluminum shortages, and new CNC machines were being sourced, installed, etc.)

I actually stopped tracking the current wait times, but the site says 90-180 days out.

I now have the single 1Up in 1 1/4"/2" hitch version.

My reasons:
1. The QuickrStuff has a long waiting list, If I didn't buy the 1up, I wouldn't be able use my bike in the mountains.
2. QuickrStuff is so pricey
3. The 1Up version I have is the lightest amongst all the other 1up racks
4. It is also the cheapest, but works great
5. 1Up have great customer support, I returned 2 racks, no questions asked (double and heavier ones), they are also very fast with replying to emails.

the rack I posted above has been returned to amazon because I didn't trust it as it felt weak and it kept getting loose.
