Shimano/SRAM geared hubs run with one single spline smaller than the others...single speed cogs have uniform splines.

Can somebody tell me what the point of the small spline is on the geared hub bodies?

Does any body make a freehub body that is uniform spline ONLY?

The reason for the difference on the geared freehub body is to make sure the all the cogs are in the right spot for optimum shifting. The individual cogs have all those annoying little ramps that work best in conjunction with each other. My Chris king has a uniform design, and I think that the Profile hub has a uniform design. Others may as well but I have not seen them.

just spline everything on the bike to be sure it goes together only one way. Maybe shimano can start that revolution

Maybe if everything was splined they wouldn't put forks on backwards at Walmart - maybe!

Naw, if they didn't make the splines the way they do and you put on cogs out of phase THAT would really annoy you. Your shifting would be so crappy you'd be forced to go to a SS!
