Spring Break will be here soon, and I'm thinking of heading to Silver City for a day or two of riding. Do any of you have any trail recommendations besides just Signal Peak? I'm a die hard hard tail guy, and love flowing single track. I did some research online and found several trails listed here - http://www.silvercity.org/activ_bicycling_guide.php - but I don't have time to hit them all, and that's why I'm asking you all. Any info is appreciated.

Little Walnut and Fort Bayard were always great riding; unfortunately I haven't been on those trails in years since relocating. The group at Gila Hike and Bike should be able to tell you about the current conditions of those trails.

You would like a new section of CDT in the Burros beginning at Red Rock road. Buy a Gila forest map at Gila Hike n Bike and ask them to give you directions. The CDT around Gomez peak is nice right now, there is a free map for that.

Emory Pass gets a nod from daGoat!
Thanks for the info, Mr. Goat. As far as Emory pass, are you referring to the 79 trail?

Oh, and, don't tell anyone, but I ride road, too, and someday want to ride up and over Emory on the pavement  !

Dave, if you're listening, or if I see you in the DAs, I may hit you up for the gpx for Signal Peak, if you don't mind.

Yep... the 79 to the south over Sawyer's Peak is mighty sweet!
Hmmm, that sounds tempting, too. The 79 is closer to me than is Silver City. With the price of gas, that makes a big difference. I just don't know if I'm strong enough yet to do all the climbing in the second half of the ride. Decisions, decisions! :D

Not sure about the snow situation up there. If I had to guess I would say there is. That is pretty high. Might be fine, I just don't know.
Good point, I keep forgetting about that storm a month ago.
