Side Benefits of Mtn Biking

I was recently thinking of all the cool non-mtn bike specific stuff I've learned about as a result of mtn biking. Things that I learned about at the bike shop or from friends who ride or here on MTBR...thngs that I probably wouldn't have found about otherwise.

Here are a few of mine, feel free to add to the list:

Wool socks.
Steel-cut oatmeal.
Drinking an ice-cold beer in a hot shower after a tough ride.

So my friend sez to me, "Gettin' any on the side?", and I sez to him, "On the side? Jeez, it's been so long I didn't know they moved it".

Ba-da-bum.

But just think of all the cool stuff you'd learn (and have missed) if you hung out with the chess crowd. Stuff you'll never learn from mtn bikers.

What you really learn is there's always something to learn and everyone has something to contribute.
Wanna learn from a sport??? Go learn to ride moto - fast. Learing to ride moto well/fast involves soooo much and if your head is out of your arse, you'll find much of it applies to real life. MTBing is a picnic in comparision.
