SID fork

I have an old SID 98 fork, however, the coating on the stanchion tubes is worn off, and now the steerer tube is just a little too short for the frame I just installed it on.

Does anyone know if I can use the uppers from a Judy, or Pilot, or Axel, or even an Indy or a Jett? This bike doesn't get ridden very often, its just that the fork is really sticky and harsh, plus it needs a longer steerer tube.

Thanks!

well.. umm if you find proper diameter then maybe.. but im not sure about stanchions lenght and how it ends. for example, i had 03 Axel. its stanchions were quite long, one of them ended with oil seal (right one) and left ended with a.. dont know how should i call it. its hole and plastic stick comes through and connects casting and coil spring. so, id say that its impossible because: 1. you probably wont find proper diameter and lenght, 2. if you do, probably stanchions ends wont fit your Sid. id recomend to buy a new fork, for example '04 Axel Elite or smth cheap like that (if you dont ride alot)

I know you can reuse the lowers, but chances are you probably won't be able to use the internals. The Judy uppers differ from model to model (i.e. the steerer / crown assembly of my 01 Judy SL had different topcap threads than my 01 Judy XC.)
Besides my Judy race & SL also had different retention clips on the bottom of the stantions compared to the XC which would make swapping internals even harder.
