Planning on heading up to Downieville next weekend, how far in advance do I have to reserve a shuttle? Do they sell out early for the weekends? Thanks

I would call as soon as you figure out times. Not sure how far ahead they fill up, but it is hard to show up and get on the shuttle you want. Yuba is good about letting you change reservations or giving a rain check if you can't make it.
Are you riding Sat? Sun? Or both? I'll be up there with 3 of my buds. We're reserved on Yuba for a 10 and 2 on Sat., 9 on Sunday.

Yuba has a more generous cancellation policy but both require payment up front. Since there's no penalty, I would highly advise booking as soon as you know, especially since they can get pretty busy the beginning of the season.

DO says that there is a $5 change/cancellation fee but my buddy booked DO accidentally and he was able to cancel w/o the charge so who knows?

I've been riding with Yuba every time and I'm just stuck on them because of loyalty.
I usually try to get my shuttle reservations in by Wednesday or Thursday for the weekend. If we get a group of 4, Greg Long at DO typically takes us in his minivan even if the vans are full.
I'll be there next weekend preriding the XC on Sat and shuttling the DH on Sunday -- I booked my shuttles with Yuba 3 weeks ago.
I called today (6/18) to reserve for the weekend of 8/1-2 and they weren't ready to take my reservation. However, they did say that it shouldn't be a problem when I call back in the next day or two and that I should be able to get a reservation and bike rental without a problem.
I reserved a spot on the 9am DVO shuttle for the 27th. I'm going with the hammerin wheels (meetup group) and so far there's 5 of us but it may expand to 15 or more. I would recommend you reserve soon if you want that 9am shuttle =)
we called tuesday mid day last week for this saturday (6/20) and they were BOOKED! we got on the 1030 and the 4 (our first time there so we'll wait no problem!) since they were the only shuttles open.

I was surprised at how fast they got booked!

Don't tear up the trails before we get there. :D We'll (4 of us) be on your heels...er wheels would be better, with the 10:00 YUBA shuttle.
haha, I'll try not to tear up the trails with my face too much but I can't guarantee that others won't... None of us have even been to Downieville before and I think we'll all be going slow. If you find someone on the side of the trail bleeding out, stop and say hi. It might be me =)

No worries. It's not really difficult but I understand it's all relative. Don't be afraid to bring some body armor. A full suit is overboard (plus you'd overheat) but some elbow/knee/shin pads are not uncommon and I'd advise wearing them if you have them ( I will be....don't think you'll look foolish ). You'll probably see us around town on Sat since we're running the 2:00 shuttle as well....probably be hanging out at the pizza joint. Have fun.
Man, I wish I have someone to go with. My friends around town sucks =(
Where are you coming from watsgowinon? My meetup group is meeting in roseville that morning so we can carpool up to Downieville. Unfortunately it's only a single day trip so if you are from very far away, it's not likely to be a pleasant drive =)
I'm from stuckton. Never been to DV before. I might have to rent a better bike, too. I might just drive there by myself and ride with you guys if it's okay. =)

...Am I gonna pass by Roseville to get to Downieville? If so, I have a full size truck with a bed rack for 3 bikes if anyone's interested.
Roseville is about 30 minutes north of sacramento on 80. Generally from the valley you would take 80 to 49 to Downieville and Roseville would be on the way. If you wanna hook up with us pm me and I'll send you a link to the meetup event.
Sending pm in a minute =)

SWEET! I'm all smiles right now!
did you guys have fun? It was my first time and that **** was a blast!
