This bike is new to me, and to some extent, so is mountain biking. I get the impression that modern forks are better and lighter than the stock Brain that is on the bike. If that's true, would love a recommendation for a better fork.

If you have an E100 brain fork, it's a top quality fork, perfectly suited to that bike. It's light enough, lighter than some newer forks + carbon steerer. Make sure it's fully serviced and working correctly & set up properly as per the charts in your specialized manual for the 2010 epic. it's then up to you if you want Brain fade or not, but adjusting the sensitivity of the brain.

you could go and waste money on a Fox 32SC or a newer SiD, but I very much doubt you'd see a performance difference.

spend your money on something else, or save it for a newer bike with newer geometry. I'd use what you have and learn to ride / learn your bike.

I knowsome of the specialized forks had issues.
Im not sure what the issue is with yours.
The frame has a tapered head tube so there are lots of fork options for you.
Id replace it with a used fox fork and roll till your legs fall off thats a schweeet ride.
