I went riding in my 5-10 shoes yesterday in muddy conditions--so muddy I bailed to save the trail but not before becoming a mud monster myself. Had to hose off. My shoes absorbed every ounce of water (Freeride model, I believe) and that just won't do on a 10 day bike ride over the Colorado Trail--it may rain and then I have anchors for days.

Any recommendation on flat-pedal shoes that are light, good grip on the soles that may not have this propensity?

Thanks

PS I came from clipless, just like flats better, so no sense recommending them.

I don't have any suggestions on shoes but
if you dont find any you might consider some sort of plastic bag you could slip over your shoes if it starts raining or if the trail gets too muddy
they make things like this for contractors and sell them at home supply stores
