My Lenz was shipped FedEx. Don’t recall the exact cost, but if you can fly with it, it’s probably worth it.

BikeFlights has a fair number of bad reviews. Found a thread on here (outside fatbike forum). Shipbikes.com quoted me $320. UPS $1600, seriously. So I bought a ticket on AK Air. Nothing wrong with a few weeks in ANC in February as long as the coastal trail isn't a sheet of ice. I will feel better putting my daughter's bike together myself too. I will know it is done right.check with BikeFlights.com
bikeflights and any other shipping is usually prohibitively expensive for Alaska. I remember when they were supposedly at "$50" and I checked into shipping down to Arizona for the WOR and it was $150 down, $250 back up. That was years ago before COVID and supply chain issues. In the meantime, Alaska Air, Delta and a few others have finally considered bikes as normal checked luggage, as long as you can keep the weight under 50lbs. That should be no problem for anyone that understands bikes and how to take out seatposts or other parts to put in the suitcase. The issue of the giant box kind of remains, so hopefully a lighter weight bike passes under the radar, but the fat-bikes are a little problematic in this regard, as compared to normal bikes. I know many people travel up here in the winter though with fat-bikes (on the airline) and they don't seem to have any big issues. The Alaska CC and frequent flier program allow you to check up to 2 free items, so usually a suitcase and bike-case...like I did today.BikeFlights has a fair number of bad reviews.
