Hey guys,

I'm a longtime lurker on this site and created an account a few weeks ago so I could see more of the pictures haha. Anyway, I ordered a Santa Cruz Butcher through my LBS about 3 weeks ago. They called SC and were told that my size and the kit I wanted were in stock at SC.

A week went by and I called to check if they have received any notice of shipping from Santa Cruz. I was told my bike would be shipping out in the next 3-4 business days. Fast forward two weeks later and I called my LBS to see if they have heard anything from SC about the shipment of the bike. Apparently it still has not shipped or the LBS has no idea where my bike is.

My question for you guys is is this typical for Santa Cruz? I mean I've heard people over a month for a bike to ship out that was in a color or configuration that wasn't in stock when they ordered it. But have any of you waited almost a month for your bike (a bike you were told was in stock) to be shipped? I don't know whether to think something feels fishy or not and I'm looking for an honest answer. I've never waited this long for a bike to ship out before.

Thanks guys!

Uncle,
Here is my take on this, right or wrong my Opinion.
I have been lucky enough to have dealt directly with SC on 2 bikes and the first one I ever bought was from a LBS in SC that had tons of frames available for the choosing. This year i got a Blur LT2 within 5 days or order ( Crash replacement, Paid in full when ordered), I was also able to get a Tallboy in 3 days (Crash replacement, paid in full day of order) and very happy with the purchase. Note these were paid in full at time of order. Now that being said, I know a few LBS's that are unable to swing payments instantly or have to wait for corp or finances to become available to pay said supplier. In this economy (yes I said it), suppliers will not ship until it is paid in full. Don't always blame SC for slow delivery times, check to see if your LBS is actually able to pay the bill. The LBS might have taken your $$$ to for electricity, employees or beer and have not paid SC yet. As a Biz owner I know how this pay me, I'll pay x later works. :)

dapozer makes a valid point. It may not be Santa Cruz's fault, but your experience with wait times is nothing out of the ordinary. The only true way to guarantee a decent delivery time is to walk in a shop and buy one sitting on the floor. :)

Best of luck...hope the wait isn't much longer.
