Shimano XT BL-T8100 Trekking Brake Lever Experience?

1895 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  D Bone
Does anyone have any experience with the newest versions of Shimano trekking levers with 4 piston brakes? I'm really curious how these would feel without Servo Wave and a longer lever that I would still use 1 finger on?

I can't find much of anything about them online. I would buy them from an Italian website.

So did you buy them? I'm about to switch from v- brakes to hydraulic and I consider buying BL-T8100 but still there are no reviews on the internet. What is your opinion on them?
Nope, I never bought them. I could not find any info on them and just went with Deore 6100s.
Damn. I think I will have to be first to write the review:) Anyway thank's for your answer

If you do pull the trigger, I would love to hear your thoughts on them regarding consistent lever bite and overall feel!

I´m using the Deore BL-M4100 ( ispec EV compatible) doesn´t have servo-wave ,using them with XT 4 pot calipers,Sintered pads and 203mm rotors, couldn´t be more happier ,no wandering bite point and more modulation.

So I bought these by accident last week, didn't even know XT could be anything but MTB. I needed brakes the next day at the bike park, so on they went.

Build quality and feel is decent, but the blade is more like the deore than XT. No finger dimples and just pressed/folded into shape. They look...odd with the 3 finger blade, but my bike already had a bunch of character, so no biggie.

I was very happy with the feel and modulation, the sharp Shimano bite is gone but there is loads of power if you need it, 1 finger works well and doesn't slip off the end even though the sweep at the end is much smaller.

The main negative for me is they've are much more likely to get snapped off in a crash, and replacements would be near impossible to source quickly. I don't think standard blades are interchangeable as the reach adjustment is a completely different arrangement. I will test this when they inevitably break though 😂

Awesome feedback! After you get a dozen or so rides on them I would love to hear your opinion on their bite point consistency.... Thanks!
