Shimano M6100 Shifter vs M7100

I currently have the bar clamp version of the M6100 shifter and am looking to move to I-Spec EV. I considered an M8100 shifter, but after riding a bike with one, but I found I much prefer the softer action of the M6100. How does the M7100 shifter compare to the M6100?

Thanks!

haven't tried the 6100 but the 7100(slx) has a softer shift compared to 8100

Thanks. I think the I-Spec EV mount might be interchangeable between the 7100 and 6100, so perhaps the best path would be get the 7100 and if for some reason I don’t like it, swap the mount. Anyone know if that’s possible or not?
I've have the bar mount M6100 shifter and the I-Spec EV 7100 shifter. Both are light action, very smooth , and trouble-free. I haven't tired the 8100 shifter, but the XT 11-speed shifters I've had required much more pressure to activate.

Is the feel of the 7100 any different? More refined or anything like that? Or is it basically the same?

From what I can tell by the exploded drawings and parts list, both shifters use the same parts for both the bar clamp and EV mounts. Both parts appear to be sold separately but with the description as being for the 7100. (no mention of 6100)

I have both.
The 7100 has a lighter click. Not quite Sram level, but close.

On the SL-M6100-I sheet, it is marked as "B" for the SL-M7100-I shifting lever unit (basically the functional core).

Here is the code:

A: Same parts.
B: Parts are usable, but differ in materials, appearance, finish, size, etc.
Absence of mark indicates non-interchangeability

Therefore different parts (but unknown as to exactly what the difference is), but will fit into the same hardpoints in-a-pinch.

Here is a video timepoint that shows a difference in the finish on the steel parts inside.

I would assume that a finish difference on internal parts would be more about corrosion resistance than aesthetics.

looks like you can buy a piece to change the type of clamp
I just installed an M7100-IR shifter. It feels basically the same as the M6100. Pushing up the cassette feels exactly the same, releasing down the cassette is maybe a hair more precise feeling, but that may be due to the new cable/housing.

IMO, save the $10 and get the M6100. I'm happy with the I Spec EV, though.
