Hey all,
I have a Shimano HG50-9 on the back of my Pugs. For the second time, the spacers have cracked the the LBS is suggesting I replace it. This has happened to two of these cassettes. I probalby put 3k on this bike a year. I ride a lot of road with it, some single track, and as much snow as possible, but I don't think I do anything close to abusing the bike.
1. Is this just a lower end cassette that I should expect this out of?
2. Any recommendations on more durable cassette?

Thx.

It is a low end cluster however i'm not sure what to get out of it durability wise. My recommendation is a sram pg990 11/34 as a replacement if you choose to do so.

You can also pick up an xt 9 speed cassette pretty cheap now days, prolly your best bang and shifting for the buck.

I would second the recommendation for SRAM. I've used them for many years now, both on my bikes and in the shop. Good quality, and shift as well as anything else on the market.

What spacers do you mean? I'm only aware of one that sets one of the cogs the right distance away from the others on some shimano cassettes. That should be under any real load.
