I just build up a set of 29er wheels with the m756 XT hub. After 50 miles I broke a freehub. Is it possible to swap a different, stronger freehub to the 756 body? Maybe the 529 freehub? Anyone else tried to swap a different feehub to a 756, what was it and did it work?

Check the Shimano Tech Docs, they will indicate which freehubs are compatible

These hubs will work as they all share the same Y-3BD 98010 freehub body

555 = Y-3BD 98010
570 = Y-3BD 98010
752 = Y-3BD 98010
756 = Y-3BD 98010

Let me know what you find if it's cheap. My M756 freehub is on its last legs and I need to either replace the freehub or the whole hub itself. Looks like $30-40 online for a freehub and $55-60 for a complete hub.

Shimano does not list if it is compatible or not...I'm sure it will bolt up fine. There are potential dust cap and cone compatibility issues but that is usually an easy fix.

Well I just called my LBS and they didn't know for sure if it would fit. They have one in stock for $37. I guess next time my freehub breaks, I'll have to fit it up.
