Hi,

While looking at these instructions : http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/t...SI-0116A-001-00-Eng_v1_m56577569830746864.pdf

I asked myself why do you need to go any further than step 3 to continue the bleeding process ? I mean, you pushed all the air out by flushing the old oil with your syringe and letting the bubbles rise up in the funnel tool. Why does shimano then tell you to then push the oil from the lever to the caliper ?

Bottom to top bleed won't guarantee that you removed all the air bubbles from the lever or the caliper for that matter( depending on caliper and lever position).
Sometimes a bottom up bleed works fine.
Sometimes it doesn't.
Shimano's instructions make sure that both the caliper and lever have the best chance of having no air bubbles trapped.
