It might depend on the adapter you want to use, I've seen a photo of a Hope V4 on a Shimano 160-203 adapter where a grinder had to be used for the brake to fit.
If you compare the Shimano 160-203 adapter with a Hope 160-203 adapter, you'll see a bit of difference in their shape.

The adaptor can be either filed down or shimmed up as needed to fit (I do this all the time on my mixed matched brakes/adaptors). The real problem could be the rotor thickness. Shimano rotors are 1.8 mm thick and the Hope V4 are spec'd for 2.0 mm rotors. That could cause lever throw problems towards the end of pad life, thou the Tech 3's levers have a lot of adjustments.

Yes I use both Shimano rotors and adapters with my hope V series

I emailed them specifically asking if it was an issue using the thinner rotor, they said no problem.

I've been using this setup for a few years, works great. Even running the pads until end of life, no probs.

Any filing or shimming required like stated above?

Um, the V4s are speced for 2.3mm rotors, but they are "just fine" with 1.8, from the Hope customer service rep. I would recommend using bigger thicker rotors with the V4s, as that's what they are really intended for, but they'll work with 1.8.

I've had to file the inside of adapters to clear the bigger Hope calipers, like V4s, occasionally.
