can I switch out the Shimano 4 taper bottem braket for an isis bottem braket ?
Yes, if that is what the new crank requires. Otherwise No.iloveclimbinghills said:can I switch out the Shimano 4 taper bottem braket for an isis bottem braket ?
Precisely. You need to use whatever bottom bracket fits the crankset you will use. If you go to ISIS you need ISIS cranks.Hudnut said:square peg ... round hole.... nope.
is your square taper BB toast?iloveclimbinghills said:dam... thanks for the info, guess ill have to save up some more money
for sure. I've been using the same Shimano UN-72 BB and raceface turbine LP cranks since 96 or 97 (it's been a long time). The setup has been on 4 frames. If it aint broke don't fix it.logbiter said:is your square taper BB toast?
slap a shimano un (52 or 72) in there for $20-30 and you're good to go for a looonngg while.
What's going on that you need a new BB?
square taper cranks are still an excellent way to go, don't be fooled by the hype of ISIS or external bearing cranks.
