Hi, my apologies if this has been answered before, I have not been able to find a solid answer.

So I have a FC-M785 crankset 38t/24t and need to replace my stock granny. I was given a shimano 24-AE granny which does not look like my stock. It has ramps etc. It looks like it will fit the cranks, but the teeth seem just off to the original.

I wanted to know if this was compatible with my crankset and or if there would be significant downside to using it.

thanks in advanced.

What matters most is that its the same thickness and installed with the teeth in the same orientation if they're curved. I -think- the 24-AE is an M660 ring so it should just work.

Thanks for the info. I found it on the site that the AE are for 3x10 and it claims to not be compatible with the M785 :( the teeth are offset where the tips lie where the saddle are on the AM 2x10.

I'm not going to risk it and get a 24-AM

Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure what you mean by tips lie and saddle....

But that AE granny gear will work just fine. I customize cogs and rings on my bikes without issue. Its not like a granny gear has any need of ramps in the first place.
