I bought a 12 speed Shimano chain off eBay for my surly build. It’s got a few hundred miles on it and it’s very discolored, looks corroded. I suspect it’s a counterfeit.
Anyone know where to find legit 12 speed Shimano chain? I can’t find one from any legitimate supplier.

Can't help with supplier but I can confirm that genuine Shimano chains do actually rust. Especially if they are ridden in wet conditions. Best preventative measure is cleaning/lubing chain after a ride.
Deore has least rust resistance, then SLX with out plates covered in something fancy, then XT with both inner and outer plates.

No offense, but have you tried googling shimano 12 speed chain? Inventories are short these days, but there is still plenty of online bike shops still selling them.
