well i had to put a new rear derialleur cable on my bike so i installed the new cable through the shifter correctly and then i laced the cable through all the housing. i cant seem to get my shifter to shift through all 9 grears in the rear. can anyone telling me how to set my shifter. derialleur so i can get through all the gears. i have a 9 spd shimano deore shifter with xt rear deriauleur with a 9 spd cassete. can anyoen tell me the proper way to setup my shifter

Did you put the shifter in the highest gear position (or lowest gear if you have low normal shifting) before you inserted the cable into the shifter? As parktool calls it, the most relaxed position?
