I got a sherman flick+ 150/110 that is a lil too tall for my hardtail. To reduce it to 130/90, do I just have to replace the 150 spring with a 130? Spacers? I know Will is the master sherman surgeon around here...

Here...

You will loose the ability to change the travel once you modify, but if you save all the parts you can always put it back. My Firefly has been great.

I think that the 90/130 uses different spring and travel adjuster. You can permanently reduce it though. I think that the lower 90 travel setting is useless anyways because if you hit a bump hard, it can sheer off those "wings." Just space out the travel assembly to the desired travel. You can even use the spring you have now.

It's pretty much adding 20mm of preload. In my experience, it shouldn't bind. I've crammed a 130mm spring down to 90mm at the request of the customer, and he beat on it for nearly a year before selling it to some guy that was really impressed with it.

Another question, I'm kind of confused here: It's a brand new fork, so do I have to do the complete disassembly? I hear people say replacing the spring is simple and only takes a couple of minutes. But the only instructions I can find are for the complete disassembly and rebuild. If I have to rebuild it, what sort of oil and grease should I order? Thanks for the help!

You can't just replace the spring to reduce travel. You have to space out the negative travel assembly.

To replace the spring, all you have to do is take off the knob, pull off the top cap, pull the spring out.

To space out the negative travel/travel adjuster for reductions, you need to take the lowers off.
