just picked up a nice specialized 18" Stump jumper w/26in wheels. 3 X 9 speed. is there anywhere i can search to find the model year by the serial number??

Pretty sure you have to go by the color scheme, fork, and groupset to get the correct year. I don't believe specialized used any sort of decodable format for most of their bikes, I could be wrong at that though, but the older annual catalogs should be available online. If you want to post a picture, someone may know.

I think that is a 2007 or 2008, definitely between 2005 and 2008 though, there was minimal changes during that period. 2004 has a S on the seattube, 2009 completely changed the sticker / paint pattern and 2010 goes to the arched top tube, so fairly confident it's one of those years. Looks like it's in incredible condition though.

2008? The one in the pic has red accents, but otherwise looks like the same bike.

You can search Specializes archives on their website. You can set filters for color and bike type and get a year.
