Self contained helmet light

My current setup is a Bontrager Ion RT 1300 Lumnen on the bar and an Ion 450RT on my helmet.

The 450 is due for a replacement and I would like to replace it with a light that have a tad more lumens.

Since I really like the convenience of the Bontrager mounting system on my Bonty helmet, I looked at the Ion Comp RT which for 120$CAD output 700lumens and only 35g heavier than the 450RT at 135g.

What would be the light worth considering? around 700 lumens and lighter than 150g? My rides usually last less than 2h at temperatures sometimes below -15 celcius.

Thanks

I would look at the Ravemen CR1000. Beam is actually designed for bar use but it's still a decent thrower, under your weight requirements, and while it won't quite give you 2hr of high mode runtime the med. mode is still around 700 lumens for close to 3hrs. Can't think of anything else that meets all your requirements. $70 retail in the US and of course with "Black-Friday" coming up there may be better sale prices.

I would go with two CECO F1200. Small enough to carry the extra in your pocket or saddle bag.

At -15 probably around 700lm for 2 hrs. 1600lm when you need it.

The ions are better on the helmet than on the bar, even on the helmet the beam sometimes feels too narrow. I would get another ion (expert or above). Having two compatible lights makes things easy. Less mounts, user interface, charging, etc. The ions run time is second to none. Expect to be dissapointed by whichever other brand you get.

Another option is to consider moving your RT 1300 to the helmet and buying a wider beam light to the bar. This is where going with another brand has a stronger use case.

I think I'll give a try to the RT on my helmet to see if the weight is manageable.

If it is I will try to find a unit with more power and a wider beam.

Thanks all for your help!
We’ll have our Black Friday sale coming up soon. Just saying. ;)

And every time you hit a bump, the light rotates in the strap and points at your feet. Worst design for cycling. Yes I know it wasn't designed for that.

I never used to have problems with this, but I replaced a broken mount and now I do. I guess some are looser than others.
I made this with an old band helmet light mount (Gemini or Magicshine, I don't remember) and a Gloworm elastic velcro strap. I didn't get a lot of use with it (never found one of these P-style torches with a beam I liked) but it never failed or had its aim change while in use. Since strap tension is what holds the light in place it should work with pretty much any torch using an 18650 cell or larger.

Is the sale starting on Black Friday, or is it an email notification? I'd like to jump on a Hangover, especially at a sale price!

ime, it doesn't ...not in my riding and I hit plenty of chunk

I've been running ZL h600W I,II,III and IV on helmets for years, none of them rotated in the holder unless I reached up and twisted it. you use the same holder it comes with, it's pretty tight.

if it did rotate in holder it's easily fixable just wrap the light in something to make it thicker...I dunno, thin slice of masking tape a few times around the body. never needed to do it

Most likely on BF or a few days before. We are furiously trying to burn down a backlog of nearly 1000 orders before the BF so that we can say everyone has their lights.

There is going to be one caveat this year, is that if you order a discounted light on BF weekend, it's most likely going to take 2-4 weeks before it gets to you. We are trying to procure more parts, but our main limitation is coming from how quickly our PCBA supplier in Phoenix can get us boards. We have thousands of pounds of batteries, over 8,000 hangover parts, an additional 6,000 Evo parts on the way, over a quarter million XD16 LED's secured and paid for. But all of that doesn't mean anything if we can't push boards through the pick-n-places fast enough.

We are going to implement one rule though, if there is any outstanding orders awaiting shipping by the time we launch our sale, we'll proactively try and give customers the sale price (providing a partial refund) since its not fair to have it go on sale when it hasn't even shipped out yet. Hence we are trying to burn down our backlog as fast as possible, ha.
