The Red Rock Ranger District is making additions to the Forest Service trail system to enhance the visitor experience and protect sensitive soils. Your help is needed to construct, maintain, and open these new FS system trails to the public and ensure that the work meets the needs of trail users. Project work will include new trail construction, sign installation, rock armoring, and drainage structures. No prior experience is needed!

If interested please contact Justin Poehnelt, Trails Technician - jwpoehnelt at fs.fed.us

Hopefully the weather will cooperate. If the ground isn't covered in snow, we will probably be working. I think our chances are good.

Another (smaller) volunteer event coming up with a mountain bike focus:

Thursday October 20th 8 AM - 1PM

Meet: Little Horse Trailhead

Project Location: Little Horse Trail between HT and Llama Trails

Problems Identified: Trail tread is too wide. Four sites with indistinct lines and tread widths up to 15ft.

Project Goals: Narrow Trail to Appropriate Tread using Vegetation and Obstacles, Create Easy and Difficult Lines using Armoring, Improve Drainage

Number of Volunteers: Maximum of 10
