Seat Post Size - Raleigh Ti Tomac MT1000

Hello,

OK, I did a bonehead thing. :madman: I put my bike on top of my car, and drove off leaving the seat in the parking lot. It's an odd seat tube size, and I'd like to know if anyone can help.

It's the Raleigh MT1000 Titanium John Tomac edition, bought it new in 94 as "last year's model". It's NOT a standard seat tube size - 30.8, 27.2, 26.8. As I measure it with a tape measure, it shows about 1-5/32" (29.4mm), which is close.

I need to either order a new seat post in that size, or a shim from Performance, and I need to know the size.

To further complicate things, the bike is in Biloxi MS (where I'm on a project assignment for the next 8-10 months), and there are NO decent bike shops on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. No calipers in my toolbag either.

Any help is appreciated.

The JTR Signature is a 27.0. Not sure if these are the same. There are 29.4's out there. Sure it's not a 28.6 like some Slingshots?

Definitely not a 27.4, that one is very sloppy. The 30.8 doesn't fit, but not by much. My guess is it's in the 29s from my crude measurements. Unfortunately, they stamp the seatpost size on the seatpost and not the mating piece.

Isnt First Flight Bikes in Mississippi? ;)

You might have to just take it to a shop or two and do the trial and error method.
Nothing good close

Not sure where fitst flight is, but it's not in the gulf coast area. I did the trial and error at a shop in Gulfport, and no luck.

First Flight is a pretty small shop. Only two guys work there and they're both very...well, they're different to say the least.

:)p ;) )
29.4 is pretty common. You could mail order a cheap one and have it shipped overnight to your job site. http://aebike.com/page.cfm?action=details&Affiliate=1&PageID=30&SKU=ST4294
My 29.4 measurement is a best-guess eyeball of a tape measurement, so no telling how accurate it is. If anyone knows for sure, would still appreciate the info.

There's gotta be a place to buy some calipers in Mississippi!
OK, I'm taking my calipers back w me (nice set of Starrett). How uniform is the seatpost size at the top as opposed to inside it? Still wouldn't mind knowing the manufactured size, if someone has one of these bikes and can tell me.
