Ok, I have my iDrive 4. The seat is roughly 2" too tall for me, but the seat post won't go in any deeper. When I cut the post, it will be perfect for me for a daily ride, but I won't be able to push the seat down any further when I'm on more technical trails.

My question is, what is the minimum seat post length that needs to be in the seat tube?

Your seat tube will already have that marked on it.

Measure how far that mark is from the bottom of the post and when you cut it, mark out
the spot that same distance from the new bottom of the post and you'll be right.
