Hi guys,

With all my free time during lockdown, I decided it was time to try a full rebuild on my Rockshox monarch rc3 plus debonair rear shock.

however, upon trying to undo the shim stack bolt, I have managed to scratch the internal damper shaft (see photo) :madman::madman:.

I know this is probably the worst place to scratch on the whole shock, but does anyone know if it will still function? Is it worth trying to fill in the scratches with nail polish/epoxy etc, and sand down?

I have a full service kit to replace all seals and 3wt oil for the damper, but I'm unsure whether to call it a day, and buy a new shock!

Any advice would be really appreciated! :)

sand off the burrs and put it back together again. If you can feel it, buy a new shaft, no need to buy a whole new shock.

I think you will feel it unfortunately.

thanks for getting back to me.

Do you have any idea where I can buy a new shaft? I can't find them available anywhere?
