repair can be as easy as some super fine wet sandpaper and lightly polishing it out. Possible will need a bit of epoxy then polishing that out.

generally you just do not want to have anything raised like mentioned. if it is not raised...but a little gouged, it will probably be okay. so no fillers usually needed.

you don't want to go scuffing a huge area up with sand paper. as small a spot as you can. in the past, i have used a deep socket with various grits of sand paper wrapped around. the smooth, cylindrical sanding "block" allows you to pinpoint the paper to a small area.
