SC Nomad any changes for 2012?

The age old question- to wait or not to wait?
I have an 09 Alu Nomad in Med, thinking of upgrade to Carbon for some time, due to need of large frame.
Question is do i hold off selling the Alu and wait to see what changes there are (if any) for 2012? Will i regret not sticking with the cramped cockpit for a few more months...?
Yes, i know life is too short and i should just buy a Cabon Nomad now- i do like the black and gold one!
I'm thinking if they were to make any changes (some may say perfect already?) speculation could be as follows, any thoughts from anyone else? :
Colour options/finish change- some people report paint chips easily (only white?or black too?) maybe mojo type rubberised frame wrap? adding weight?
Maxel rear- FAQ on SC site says its plenty stiff enuf, but maybe they will go with new industry standard's for trail bikes of 142x12?
Tweaked Carbon Pivot link- maybe 2 options - Push have their alu version to make the N2 more d/h biased, maybe there will be 1 carbon version for the d/h rider & 1 for the trail/xc crowd?
Ballistic carbon- complete frame in BC, so that it's capable of taking rock strikes all over the frame (like new Jekyll) not just on the drive side stays and the downtube.... is it only the drive side that has this?
Part of me just wants one now, but the other part thinks in a few more months i may hear of a change and regret not being patient,:madman: it is a huluvalota cash to layout so could be worth waiting for sea otter, they normally give a sneak preview of next years release around April?
Otherwise If no major changes, i'll pull the plug in May on an '11 frame  .
Any one else any thoughts as i can't find anything on google and yes i know its only Feb of this year....

I can't see why they would have a 2 option link for DH and a link for XC/trail. The Nomad is an All Mountain bike and is supposed to fit in between those categories. Though I understand people wanting the lean more specifically to one style, hence the new Push link. If they were to do the link option they would need 3 (DH, AM, XC/Trail) but I can't see that happening.

I am in the same boat as you though. I still don't know if I should wait for the 2012. I waited on a PS3 and got a slim, I didn't wait on an iPhone and ended up with the 3G, then they released the 4.... ouch!!

Mmmmm what to do, what to do.
2 weeks ago they told me no changes for the reaer axle ahead...
enjoy life and don't waste time if there is less than rumors about changes of the Nomad C anytime in the future

the actual Nomad C is a great bike which hasn't reached its first birthday;)
I don't see any changes.....if there were, you would have seen them on the Nomad Carbon. Except for possible different color options, I wouldn't expect to see any dramatic changes.

Wait if you want......but you will probably end up with the same bike, than you could have purchased now.

It's a Win Win situation... If you do wait the 2011 Nomad with be less $$$ than the 2012 Nomad... Example- CC IS selling 2010 S/C BlurLT2-carbon for $1,700.00... I guess it was $1,900.00 then they drop the price again... The msrp is like $2,450 / $2,500 So looks to me if you wait to buy the Nomad... You will be making out pretty Good...
When will the 2012s be released or at least announced? Soon? If not I think ill just go with a 2011.

Once again, SC dies not do traditional model years.....

The only thing that differentiates the newer model is the newer rear shock and possibly a new color option.

So it is up to you if you want to wait around to see a new color option, otherwise buy one now.

That was when the whole lineup was Alu. Now that SC it's going all Carbon, frames are not going to evolve as fast. Molds are very expensive and you can't change them every 6 months...
SC has said many times they don't have model years. They make new models or improve models when they have something to improve and historically its been at all times of the year. If anything its that they add or discontinue certain colors or anodizing. Somewhere there is a interview with SC where they kind of poke fun of other companies having model years and only changing minor things.
Heard from someone that 2012 Nomad will have some improvement. Any idea what is that? When will it be available?
SantaCruz told me last week no change for 2012, just the kashima rear shock shipping next week
Do they do anything before seaotter?
I just realized they changed the Blur LT going into 2011 well before Sea Otter
hopefully they will be changing the lower link grease fitting locations like those of the blur tr. Still baffled that SC's has changed the lower link for the TR but not the nomad which is more prone to impacts down there. I wouldn't hold out for the change though. New links are only 64 off their website. I just replaced mine. I would like to see SC raise the lower link to a more protected area, but I guess that would be vpp1?
Did SC say anything about updates on colors or graphics? Im wanting to pull the trigger on a new frame but i may wait if there are going to be new options available after interbike.
I think I would get a NomadC if it came in the Seabrite Blue.
Nomad changes for 2012

I contacted SC myself and they said :

No changes planned for the Nomad Carbon in the immediate future.
The 2012 Kit and Suspension options (Including Kashima) are starting to be
available now -

As i am still waiting to pull the plug (having now sold the Alu Mk2) i still can't help thinking this info. from the horses mouth maybe just to put people off, so that they buy up the old stock before a new one is released after Interbike....??
Have an Xc C to ride so that'll have to do for now.

I used to be indecisive, but now i just don't know.

:D

Yeah you have to be careful believing everything said. There is always an ulterior motive.

I have had mine for a few months and can safely say that it is pretty amazing. Other than colour options, I can't think of much else that could be changed. Someone already said Seabright blue. I think that would be friggin' awesome!

A rear through axel will please many, though I find the rear end fine already.

Believe what you will, but the way it is, is great, and any change will be very very minor I am sure. At least you can claim to be an original pioneer!!?? :D
2012 Santa cruz Nomad

I just received a new SC nomad Frame and Lyrik fork. I'm not sure about the changes about the past versions, but this one weights the same 32pounds. For me that's just fine for the kind of ride I do.
