priscilla kicked my ass big time (priscilla is my bike)
things didnt start off like they should, my folks are out on a trip and my dad left his alarm clock on... thus waking me up at 5:30am (somethings wrong with my dad) and again ten minutes later... but that was my fault cuz i had/have no idea how the thing works. it took me a good half hour to catch some shut eye again but i did go back to sleep... then my alarm clock goes off (7:30) but i paid no attention to it and slept for another hour or so.
so im ready at 8:30 for yet another solo ride, stomach doesnt feel as good as i would like but i wasnt gonna miss this weekends ride. (had an upset stomach last sunday thru wednesday) so im thinking im gonna take things nice and easy since i didnt get to ride last weekend and the ride the week before that was a ***** (mexico-argentina... one too many beers didnt do alright on the bike)
20 mins later im out on the trail, took things easy on the first technical climb and was feeling alright, however priscilla started to b1tch at me asking for more speed, and i couldnt say no to her, eventually caught up to a group of 6 riders and she just begged me to show off her climbing skills, so i did. came to the top of a hill and i knew what came next; two climbs "la rompe piernas" and "la cardiaca" the group caught up with me before the downhill and we talked a bit, turns out a couple of them were on their first ride, and their friends told them what to expect from the next two climbs (pain) so i took off before them in case they might slow me down on the downhill, and took the first climb at a good pace then rested a bit at the top, i saw some cattle at the next climb so i waited a bit longer so the track was clear. 4 of them eventually caught up with me and took off for "la cardiaca", one of them made it, another one got halfway there and the other two did the walk of shame, i saw the line was clear and took off. I know the climb very good and i know i have to pedal fast (middle ring, but thats just the way i do it. most do the granny gear) so i flew past them and priscilla was enjoying every single bit of it.
however as soon as i reached the top i pedaled around 15mts on flat ground and stopped, walked around a bit and then i just had to sit down a bit... my stomach started to feel like a ballon, i lowered my hr and was breathing alright but the rest was feeling like crap. after 10 mins of rest sitting down the inevitable happened... all the water i had this morning poured out my body taking a quick short cut thru the same way it had gone in. (meaning i threw up) so i just sat there for another 5 or 10 untill i was sure i wasnt gonna throw up again and hoped on the bike. i still had about 1k of climbing left to do but it wasnt as steep as the rest, i reached the top of the track and saw the guys (who had passed my while i was throwing up) resting, said hello to them and started doing circles before i felt like going down the whole thing, two mins later i said bye to the guys and didnt stop untill i was back at the car.
it was a good ride, i just need to learn how to pace myself while riding solo. i need some breakfast, but just dont feel like eating. im just all beat up.

and tomorrow my friends and i are gonna do the pista las antenas (i told u guys i was gonna do it last week but my stomach and the elections got in the way)
and now i gotta take a shower and head to the library to work on my tesis :prft:

so i took the same route today (15th) and decided to take things at a steady pace, rested very little and pushed as hard as i could without rest stops. and things came out sooo much better than i thought. I eventually caught up with the same group of guys I saw last weekend and had a little chat with them. they were surprised I rode solo and invited me to join. so if next saturday im left to do the solo riding again I might see if i catch them at the trailhead (only bad thing is they said they started to ride at 7:30... I began to pedal today at 9 and still managed to catch up with them) its not the pace that bothers me... its the time... its just too early in the morning for me.
well anyways, I caught up to these guys at the highest point of the trail so I eventually said C ya guys and started the descent... I felt the fork really stiff for some reason and thought it was due to the fact i decided to play with the rebound earlier on the ride, did some rockgardens and just felt beat up at the end of the ride... I got home and first thing I noticed while cleaning the bike was I had the ETA on during the whole downhill :madman:

how was the ride for the rest of u guys today?
