Sasquatch and Steve showed up at my door to take me riding today. Grabbed my gear and met them across the bridge for 16 miles of mostly frozen singletrack (the trail starts 1/4 mile from my front door). Chris was waiting for us and Albee arrived at the last minute.

It was frosty!

I doubt it was above 30 degrees all day.

Fun time! Thanks guys.

Great ride, great company. Too bad I had to bail out to the road. Just felt a little weak near the end. Possible reasons:

1. So cold!
2. All that stopping for pictures
3. I'm just a weenie

Yeah, I know...the votes are in, and number three is the winner!

Got a ride in during the day, and started the move to the new house last night -- woohoo!

Hey guys, I"m glad someone got out of the valley.I was at whypass from about 8:00 to 10:15 19 degrees when I started but as you already know the cold isn't an issue with the good mix of climbs.....I am wondering how the NFT is layed out(rolling river trail like MRTor does it have a significant amount of climbing? Looks to me by the pictures that it resembles the MFT...I haven't been up that way since late SEPT. I think it's gonna be snowy for a while but as soon as it passes I plan on trying to get the legendary SHIGGY to show me around and to talk tires. :D :p ;) Oh ya nice pics !!!!!!!!!!......THE GOOCH(WES)

Congrats Randy!!!!!

Oh yeah, good job proposing also. ;)

We did see some PO yesterday, but it was so cold, and we didnt have any exposed skin, that I think you would be ok right now. There was only one 25 yard section where the stems of PO were thick along the trail. We'll cal ya next time we're in town. :D

First tracks. Nice "figure eights". Warren Miller would be proud.

Downstream, there was little frost

Upstream, the sun had not yet appeared

Shiggy practices his skids

Steve wanted to turn back early, but we convinced him to keep riding.

The hoar frost was present in spots with no insulating tree canopy
Hoar frost (not whore's frost) is formed when the dew point is warmer than surface but colder than the air temperature, and colder than freezing point.

Shiggy cleans a tough little log. We wanted to cut it out, but he bet us that if he could clear it, we'd leave it (for a few days at least). Trust me, it's tougher than it looks.

See, Chris couldn't do it.

Hey GUys,

Nice shots. Too bad I missed contact Sat AM by a few minutes. We (General Coonskins, ML & Scotty T & myself) went to the 'Whypass' zone and had a great ride. We didn't have it get over ~25 deg all day. Similar frosty stuff, almost everywhere. Dang gorgeous! I might post a couple pics if I can get a faster connection going. I know, I know, don't hold your breath Sacquatch.

Cheers

Tim, we missed ya on Saturday. I bet Whypass was fun, but I would not have enjoyed driving out there with the icy roads. Even Hwy 58 was a bit scary. We won't hold our breath for your photos, but Im glad to hear you found your camera. Did GC find his GPS unit yet? See ya wed night?

Sat Ride = Cold

Matt & Don - great shots. Let it be known the reason I wanted to turn right there was so we could do 5828. But going out on N. Fork was just as inviting. Wasn't cold except for the first two minutes. Great riding with everyone.
