Sat Mar 15th, Senator Beall's "Pancake and Parks" at Almaden community center

Pancakes and Parks | Senator Jim Beall

This might be a good time to ask about "night use" and equal access/money for MTBers. And eat some pancakes and then head for a ride to one of the close by parks. :)

Good call, MPB.

For those not familiar with the area, "close parks" that allow MTBs are Santa Teresa, Almaden Quicksilver, Rancho Canada Del Oro, Sierra Azul (Kennedy).

The Santa Clara County Open Space Authority is a multi-use advocate, but they need to hear that mountain bikers want more of their properties open to the public, as well as trails that are more singletrack than linear Sweco cuts.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll go to learn more and advocate. And eat pancakes. For the cause.

Attended the last half. As expected for a political meet, they almost broke arms patting themselves on the back.

As for Santa Clara OSA, Andrea Mackenzie talked about all the great things they did and the limitations caused by lack of funds. They're thinking of going for a bond issue of their own in November. (I suspect they want to see how MidPen does.)

One question came up on Blair Ranch progress. Andrea talked about how great an acquisition it was, and all the nice things about it. They will put in a new parking lot for it, and upgrade some of the historical buildings. They then added a footnote that it'll be a few more years to open. Same lack of funds issue.

Pancakes and fruit were fine.
