Santos this weekend?

Anyone going to santos this weekend? I want to do the 42 mile Epic out there on either saturday or sunday. I think everyone's hangovers will be over by then, right? I want to get in a nice long cross country ride, and would probably enjoy it more with some company..

We are supposed to head up there for New Years.

Plan is to bring the tandem and put some miles in before San Felasco.

Not sure if it will happen on account of getting sick, not looking good at the moment.

We won't be there this weekend or I would take you up on the "epic". We will be there camping Wed and Thur night, woot.
If you want to ride the epic start from the Landbridge trailhead. Then you can do it as 2 out and back 20 mile rides with a nice SAG in the middle to fill up your water and grab a bite to eat. Unless you are used to long rides like that, disregard. It is a good ride to do though.

An out and back would be too tempting to cut the ride short after 20 miles. haha. I'd like to do the whole trail (or at least the 42 miler) and at least do twister and some of the other cool trails in the santos section.. Im used to long road rides, but the longest yet on the mtb is about 30 in the dirt.
If it stays as cold as it is today, the only place i'm riding outside is back to my fire pit! My lungs seem to dislike being frozen.

Thats what layers are for!! :)
lol until your layers are soaked because you've been riding hard!

Nah i might come out, although i doubt i'll run the epic just because I ride with a group and normally let them eat the spiders since I don't know the trails well enough yet. I really want to try some of the jumps and drops in the vortex this weekend. especially the drops. Step downs and step ups are my favorite when I ride MX.
I will be going there Saturday for the Trek and Gary Fisher demos.

I believe it's 8am-3pm with unlimited riding. It's my first one but that's what I hear.
I stuck the wife on a womans version of the top of the line fuel a couple years back. We were fortunate there wasn't a line of girls wanting to ride it.

It was great way to compare her bike to a newer bike, and different brand. I had a shock pump in my camelback and adjusted the pressures a couple of times for her preferred type setup.

She used up the first half hour, we came back and they said she could spend more time on it. All was going good, we got home and I went to find and order one. It was explained that she did not need a uber thousands of dollar bike to have fun. Gotta love common sense sometimes.

Have fun. Wish we were able to head up.

Well, I managed to do it.. I rode the epic ride route all the way - and then some. I actually crossed 484 and into the new trails they are building over there for a mile or so, before realizing I was past the 'epic ride' bit. I turned around and headed back.. the first 4 hours of riding I felt pretty good, however the last hour I was absolutely cooked, miserable, and out of fuel. Ill probably throw a ride report up on my blog after a really long nap. Came out to be about 44 miles or so Im guessing, and I completed it in about 5 hours... my iphone ran out of juice just after the 4 hour mark. (I use imapmyride - and unfortunately it didnt save. :() Time to invest in a garmin edge 500.
smartphone with apps running = bye bye to battery life. thats the only real downfall to those phones IMO.

I'll be out riding this Sunday! Chili, rambler, all you guys that post video's and stuff at Santo's should come out and join us! The cold is probably going to scare off a few out of the group. I may complain about it, but I don't whimp out :p
I may have el nino on sunday, so I wont be able to come out that way.. I will probably go out on saturday if it isnt ridiculously cold.
been out there the last couple of days... weather is great!

I dunno, 30 degree rain might be fairly miserable. My knees complain bigtime in anything under 40 or so. I need another set of knee warmers to go on top of the ones I have.. lol. double knee warmers!
You know the deal, 8am at the trailhead for some red trail actioooon and NICE weather for a change!
Not sure if I can make it there THAT early.. Im leaving from O-town around 8, and will be there at 10ish. Gonna ride the epic again. yeehaw
