Santos on a whim

914 Views 16 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  cableguy46
Just got the urge to ride, and for something completely different, I'm gonna make the drive down to Santos from G'ville. I haven't ridden a whole lot down there, and looking for some guidance.

I was thinking about doing Nayl's, but am open to any other suggestions.

You have about 20 minutes to choose to accept this mission. This message will not self-destruct, but I may, depending on what sort of idiocy I get myself into out there.

just through micanopy... looking for about 2-3 hours of riding. got the mobile device, so if anybody has suggestions, i'm open.
Nayls side has some interesting stuff, but if this is your first time I'd suggest going to the main trailhead off of 441 (turn at sheriff's office). Lots more people, new pumptrack, good trails right out of the trailhead (stick to cowbone, it's a bumpy one but fun). I think it give a good look at Santos.
this is my second time down. don't remember what we rode other than sinkhole and john brown. ended up being a super short ride cuz one dude broke his chain, and we were all too incompetant (at the time) to fix it.

main trailhead would hae me riding sooner, for sure...
If you're looking for miles, there is a really well signed route out to the landbridge (and Nayls if you wanna go further). Follow the IMBA/OMBA EPIC signs, little green circles. Have a good ride.

thx adam. lookin for combo platter of miles/fun. i'm close to the main trailhead, so i think i'll just head there.
You there yet? I was not going to go, but think I will. It is just so nice out and I can be there in about an hour. so get in some miles and pop back out at the main trail head in about an hour or so.

thanks to mrm1 for showing me the way to the vortex loop, and exposing my intermediate skills.

just picked up a couple of pizzas from blue highway in micanopy to bring home to the three ladies who allowed this little last minute trek.

pretty good day...

Looks like you've got some more new friends. Me that was my first time on the MTB in about 3 weeks. Road bike has kept me busy thought. We had a fun little ride. Just road out to the Vortex and worked our way thru that trial and back in.
