Here's a pic of the head tube, with this quote from the blogPadre said:Looks like a beauty. I hope it doesn't suffer from short-head-tube-syndrome.
That said, we're still a long way from final production, and there could be many small tweaks between now and then. So, don't be too hasty in the rush to judgement. Still, for the most part, the following photos are going to be pretty damn close to what hits the showrooms in the fall:
105mm VPP travel, carbon fiber, target weight "very light", missing the super-sano little stainless steel chainstay protector plate, some graphic tweaks still to come, this is the very first sample frame. Showed up here friday mid-day.
Top tube, top view. Tapered head tube - 1 1/8" inset upper headset bearing, 1.5" lower. Whole lotta swoop going on in that top tube...

I dig the name and the color. Orange bikes kick ass.
Nice job Santy Cruz!
LyNx said:OK, my question is................Does SC really feel that this is what people are looking for in a 29er? :skep: Personally I think stepping into the 29er market with a (I'd guess) $2700-$3k frame would not be a good plan, but maybe that's what SC fan boys want. I can sort of understand using the CF to maybe add strength and rigidity, but there's Hydro Forming for alu which would produce a cheaper frame :???:
I think this is pretty much state of the art, in the truest sense.LyNx said:OK, my question is................Does SC really feel that this is what people are looking for in a 29er? :skep: Personally I think stepping into the 29er market with a (I'd guess) $2700-$3k frame would not be a good plan, but maybe that's what SC fan boys want. Yup, I agree with the playpunk. Friggin haters might not need one but I think it looks like a contender for my money this fall. I have loved every one of my SC bikes. In fact I still own them all. Even the old SC frames hanging in my garage have fond memories that's why I still have them. The boys at SC know what they're doing.playpunk said:I think this is pretty much state of the art, in the truest sense.
For anyone with the money to spend on the frame, I think that this would be the best bike available. I seriously doubt that it will be 3k, Lynx, as the 26" Blur XC Carbon is 2400 @ speedgoat. I'd imagine it will have the same pricepoint.
This looks like a seriously awesome bike, which means that all of the MTBR types will whine about it, and keep riding their Monocogs with flat pedals, bellies flapping in the wind.
