I'm interested in renting a good dual suspension bike in the Santa Cruz area for a week in March. Could always go the competetive Cyclist mail order demo route, but would rather support a local shop if you've got one/any to reccommend. Thanks for your help.

Another Bike Shop (that's what it's called) in SC demos Santa Cruz and Turner bikes. But last I checked, they were not letting demos out in muddy conditions unless you're a really serious buyer, so I'd give them a ring.

Roaring Mouse in SF demoes Titus and Maverick for $50 a day.

Exactly. ABS offers Demos (to help prospective buyers decide), not rentals. ABS would not be a good choice for the OP, muddy or not.

As others mentioned, Family Cycling Center on 41st would be the best bet in the area for rentals. I believe they have Blurs, Hecklers, Fuels, plus a few others.

Summit bikes in Los Gatos (Main st.) also rents bikes, IIRC.

Trailhead Cyclery in San Jose rents Specialized bikes for $75/day.

The Bike Trip on Soquel had a rental program a couple years ago, but I don't know if they still do.
