I am moving to Santa Barbara, CA after the summer, and while I have heard that the downhill terrain there is very good, I have not heard of any races being held there, aside from the Firestone-Walker race. Are there any racing series in SB, like the Southridge Winter/Spring series that we have here?

User conflict prohibits any racing on the front country trails. Other than that, I'm not sure about anything other than Firestone/Walker & a minor Super D event they hold at Elings park near the beach. The Elings race should be coming up, but the course is super short & smooth with some jumps & switchbacks along the way. It's basically a little hill overlooking the beach.

You can drop by Velopro & talk to anyone there about these things. Other bike shops in town include Bicycle Bob's (good guys) & Hazards (good folk too).

Once you get here, be sure to be super cool to the hikers on the front country trails like Tunnel.

There are plenty more with a google search, & you may want to check in with local teams like Echelon (mostly road but I've seen those guys on dirt too).

Thanks for the info - I really don't fancy having to drive 3 hours to Fontana every other weekend
