My LBS just informed everyone of a 10% price increase all all Santa Cruz bikers April 1st. Any truth to this?
way too much hype with mountain bikes i stopped buying new bikes in 2014 i only buy used and get great deals my last one was 2018 ellsworth evolution spec with sram eagle XX1 and xtr, bike was purchased for $9700 i bought it 2019 for $3600 without a scratch found it on pink bike. Almost bought a 2019 yeti SB130 bike was a few months old cost $6000 was selling for $3900 i offered $3200 he waited a few weeks called to make the deal but i had lost interest in it. Not crazy for 29ers. Many excellent used bikes out there. Covid beefed up prices due to the demand in outdoor sports mountain bikes overnight became the in thing. So supply and demand created the price surge.

“All unshipped MY21 orders in the system will need to be repriced...”

Seems a bit harsh if it means LBS having to call their customers and tell them they are going to have to pay more the bike / frame they currently have on order.

As others have said, this is inevitable given the present state of global supply chains and others are likely to follow suit. At least SC are being open about it, and I’d rather see them survive as a business, for the sake of their employees principally, but also because of their excellent customer service and warranty.

Why is this inevitable? Already quite a few brands have done this, some twice (Cannondale) ... and somehow there are no bikes in stock - they are taking the piss. SC put a video complaining about how hard it all is ... and then moments later in the same video claim they are building and shipping more bikes than ever!?!

So, IMHO it's not inevitable, rather its BS. Prices will crash at some point ... thinking tulips here.
