I'll be in San Marcos for a few hours Sunday morning, and was wondering where to find some technical trails to ride for a while. Any suggestions or touring offers would be greatly appreciated. FWIW, I'm good at techy stuff, but not super-fast when it comes to distance, as I tend to session if I find something fun & just don't feel the need to have to fly through everything. So if you do offer to join me, and I would appreciate it, don't expect an XC rider, but more of a free-ride/trials type. Thanks guys/gals.

I would be more than happy to ride with you Sunday afternoon, but I will be busy all morning. There is really only one trail system in San Marcos, and the trailhead is at the intersection of Hunter road and Wonderworld Dr. It is really rocky/techy in spots. One or two spots are almost unridable for me. But, it will be hard to find your way around by yourself on your first time. about 12 or 13 miles of trail total.

Thanks for the offer man, but I will prolly be starting around 8 and be done by noon or so as I'll need to be getting back to Georgetown by 1 or 2. I take it the trailhead you're referring to is one for the Purgatory system? I was thinking of starting at the Prospect Park entrance off of Bishop, and think it is the same trail you are referring to, just a different trailhead. If I do end up riding trail & not just doing an urban ride through campus (which I haven't been on since I was in school, and think it could be a blast), I'll prolly start there only because I used to live on Bishop & hike that trail, so I know where it is.

yeah its the same one. if you havent been there in a while its changed quite a bit. u gotta ride under the new wonderworld extension to get to the main trail. just follow the blue posts and then turn in where there is a hole in the fence.
