I know this is news from my hood, but thought others may be interested.

Sad and tragic news man...

An off duty LA County Police Captain was shot and killed this morning when he was riding his bike at 5:30am. I grew up in that neighborhood. Tough area back then and looks like things have not changed.

I saw that story this morning on the news, it hit close to home for me. I ride in that general area, it's making me think twice about riding but unfortunately it's the only place I can ride after work. I ride a little further west but it's still something that I think about while riding.

Very sad indeed.

But you know you’re not in a good area when you go inside a KFC and they have 1” thick plexiglass between the ‘customers’ and the hired help. I worked in the area and lived not far from there for 15 years. Bad enough during daylight hours, but don’t hang out around there after the sun sets.

Back around 1995, a co-worker of mine was visiting relatives near there (in Carson) and was shot execution style while sitting on a bike outside of an apartment. The perp just hopped on his victim’s bike and rode off into the night…
the perps knew

it was a cop. Thats a area where most folks on the wrong side of the law get to know the local police by name because they've seen them so often.Such a tragedy, at least he went down guns blazing.God bless his family, they'll need it. Jim S.

Welcome to L.A.! Where the Bright Lights are actually muzzle-flash.

that sucks. My uncle was an LAPD Captain and fortunately made it to retirement, but not without seeing a lot of crap first.

prayers to the family,
