That's right and I like it!

The new store is gonna be near 80 and Douglas.

I like Performance when I need a part / tube / tire quickly.

I will still patronize some of the other "local" shops like Folsom Bike
and MadCat.

As far as I know, Performance Bikes doesn't support events, bike-related charities, orgs like FATRAC, races, etc. They don't get any of my money because they don't support the local cycling community like many other non-chain shops in our region (who give generously). I'm not saying I buy everything from the LBS, but I like my money to speak for my loyalty when I do.

Maybe I'm wrong about this. If anyone is in the know about Performance's advocacy practices, speak up and I'll add them to my list of "approved" shops.

I still goto madcat for random bearings, and east sac bike for random campy bits and an frs here and there, but pb is the place for the stuff you run out of.

No questions asked return policy on anything > *

Same reason I shop at REI. Don't like something, bam, take it back.

Supposedly alot of the howe ave ppl are going to douglas, so you'll have people that actually know about cycling!

Ooh, I hope the Howe shop can survive that. They ARE good. I typically only go to Performance for shorts, but mostly because it's WAY out of the way of my normal travels.

I'm cool with Performance! No matter how you look at it, it always comes down to the price, right? It's true! No matter how much I like MC and other shops in SacTown for their GREAT service it's tough not to go to Performance for Nuitrition products, high end parts, etc. as their prices are way, way better. I see this forum getting ugly.

Reb, we get along for a reason, complete Ditto.

But I also echo Nacho's concern, the Howe store is considerably better and having too many of their core go open the new store might hurt the Howe stores competance.

We shall see.

When you're in Roseville, give Sharp Bicycles a chance to earn your business. Good peeps

I race for Sharp since they have one of the best mechanics in the region!
Is that Dave F. still wrenching there? If so, I give him a thumbs up as well.

I perused that link and it doesn't look like they do anything for our region other than distribute Amgen California Coast Classic literature. Could be wrong about that, but I couldn't find anything specific. They do seem big on offering "special prices" to people involved with events. I imagine these special prices are similar to the "Blowout sale" they have every week.

Sorry, I know I sound like a total hater right now :p . I just hate to see money go to them when it could be going to a shop that's gone out of it's way to not only support Sacto/Roseville/Folsom MTB, but create events, workshops, group rides, teams, etc.

That said, it's a free country and a free market. Shop where you wanna

I will continue to support my local bike shop....screw Performance.....

My LBS is heavily involved in the local cycling & racing community helping to sponsor events, races, local RAAM racers,etc.....they are fair with pricing and the profit stays local.....:cornut: :cornut:

From a Perfomance employee

As a PB employee in the SF bay area(and posting with a alias), they are the place to go for nutrition, water bottles, tubes and other small item things, but don't expect to see any high end bikes or much as for high quality items. PB is kind of like K-Mart or Target, but just with bikes. As far as community, event and racer/rider support I have yet to anything close to that. Even with the employee discount, I would rather buy my high priced items from a LBS, Sports Basement or Mikes Bikes or in otherwords, shops that actually do have community support/events. I do admit though that PB is hard to beat with their return policy. I'm just sayin....Ride On Everyone

I've been hesitant to chime in here, but here's my take anyhow. I've had really good experiences with The Hub and some not as great but overall its worth heading in there, it can depend on who is working but thats pretty standard. Also, The Hub will price match, even internet prices. I've walked in there looking for tires with my phone in hand, google search the tires for price and just show it to them at checkout. Blammo, instant 30% off and no waiting for shipping. On a side note, they have a WTB tire selection that can't be beat and have the Bronson if you're looking for it. I haven't been into Sharp as often, but the few times I have they've been pretty good, helped me out with what I needed with 0 fuss. That being said, I will still go to Performance on occasion. The LBS doesn't stock the wierd, obscure, cheap items I sometimes need for the old road bike. At least that's been the case here in Roseville, I am sure some do.
