Is anyone out there running a 5" fork on a RX100 or HH? If so, what fork and how do you like the handling?

I would like to slow steering quickness of the bike a bit, and more importantly, steepen the HA for steep decents, but I don't want the bike to ride like a sloth once the geometry is changed.

Steepen???

By putting a 5 inch fork on a RX you would be slackening the head angle which is what I think you want? I have never heard or read about anybody doing this on this forum. I used to ride a Trek Fuel and I went from a 3 inch fork to a 4 inch fork to do the same thing and it worked great.

I'm running a Marz 120mm fork on my RX/HH100x. After running it at full length for a few months, I limited it down to 110 and its much better...

If you want the best of both worlds, you'll need an adjustable travel fork. I had a Vanilla 125, Minute 1:00 130, and a TALAS 125 on my HH. It's certainly rideable but less than ideal at full travel. The taller fork pushes your whole riding position rearward and kills the handling. It rides best below 115mm. For that reason, a 115 Reba U-Turn would be perfect.

Guess I just need a new trail bike.

Sounds a bit silly to spend so much on a new fork, if it isn't ideal on such an expensive bike. So I will do something even more silly and get a second ride:) The search begins...

That's Funny...

and not that far off. You had better keep your garage locked. Going to Demo really got me wanting a trail bike to enjoy those types of rides. Still love the RX for most of what I do and Skeggs type riding.

I do want to get a Gravity Dropper "when" I get a trail bike. I saw in one of the mountain bike mags that Titus is coming out with a 6 x 6" bike that could be interesting. Also, the Epiphany looks very interesting, but I can't talk about it on the Titus board.

My garage is off limit!!

Seriously, for the kind of riding we do, a good 5" bike like the ML is the shiznit. It's the perfect do it all bike, and can be built easily below 30# so that it won't be a pig to climb with, and you'll still have plenty of fun on the way down. You'll benefit more from 2 degrees of extra slackened headangle than from an extra 1" of travel. With an adjustable fork, the ML climbs really well, and you'll feel a lot more secure when it's pointing down. Now, if you plan on jumping stuff, then the 6" bike might be nice, otherwise for all around technical trail riding, the ML is the perfect combo.
