RS rebound knob leaks and falls off

I'm too tired to search so Im just gonna ask. Why does my rebound knob leak? I cant tell where its coming from but it leaked before and after I serviced the fork. I replaced the crush washer and the bolt with the ones supplied in the kit along with all of the o-rings inside the fork. The old bolt was silver with an o-ring for the knob to lock onto. The new one is black with a metal ring to lock into the groove inside the adjuster. Neither seem to feel like the knob is secure but with the new one, the knob fell off while I was bouncing on the fork in the road and again when I stopped hard on the front brake. I opened up the metal ring a lil and the adjuster actually snapped on, but I'm still concerned about the leak. Where is it likely to be coming from and should I bother with it or just change the bath oil ever few months so I know the level is good?

Thanks,
Frankie

Is it a newer shock? I believe RS is having a recall because of a leak.
No leak, but found a RS rebound knob on a local trail, thought "that sucks". It turned out to be mine. First time it's fallen out. I'd say just ride it and check/ replace the bath oil as usual.
A wrap of plumbers Teflon tape on the lower bolt may work though.
Either the crush washer is leaking or there is a small crack in the bolt thread area that will never seal no matter how many crush washers you replace. That was the case with my '07 Lyrik. RS replaced the lowers with '10 lowers for free. YMMV, I have a great lbs for dealing with RS. The fork was technically not even under warranty any longer.

Teflon tape sound like it might work. But I'll have to see if the lowers are cracked like eatdrinkride said.

I dont have a small tq wrench so I tightened the bolts by feel. The crushwasher isnt exactly crushed, should it be flattened?
