I just bought a used Pivot Mach 5 that the previous owner had pushed to his specs (i weigh 100lbs heavier then he does)
how badly will this effect my ride (albeit this is my first full suspension bike so i have no background to draw from)

Should i have it RePUSH'ed ?

Likely. Putting more air pressure in it will help, but the internal valving is custom to the linkage, weight, riding style, etc. 15 pounds probably wouldn't be a big deal, but 100 is big. Its likely going to be pretty soft for you.

I'd suggest riding it until it needs a rebuild, then send it back to PUSH for service. They'll change the damping on it, update it to their latest specs and change all the seals.

I'd suggest calling PUSH (970) 278-1110 and asking them. They will let you know definitively if it's gonna need work (i'm guessing yes).
Why wait to rebuild on an imperfect ride? Get it done now while it's in the forefront of your mind. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I think once a shock is pushed, a re-tune is only the cost of a rebuild. Worth it in my mind, regardless of the price.

If you send your shock into Push, don't use there shipping!! I just sent mine in and they charged 50% more than fedex normally does. They say "take advantage of our shipping rates".....ya if you want to pay 50% more! They might not know what they are doing when it comes to giving good shipping rates, but they do know there way around a shock.

Yeah seriously. They charged twice as much as it cost me to ship the shock to them. I'm not naive enough to believe that its because "they don't know what they are doing" though. I hope Darren reads this thread. I'm happy with their work on my shock but the shipping thing was just tacky.

Petes-tacky is a kind word. Honestly, I would rather them charge $15 additional than pull a little trick with there shipping. I called and talked to Christine today "we don't get that big of a discount". Let's be realistic, my friend's dad owns a golf distribution company and ships fedex...gets 36% off retail. Don't act like your customers are idiots that don't know what they're doing. I might not be able to tune a shock like Push can, but I'm not a moron.
