Looking at picking up a set of carbon rims 29'er for the spin-up benefits (hey, every little bit helps right?) and it seems that Roval SL are the only option for riders over 200lbs.

Is this true? Anyone in the 220lb range have experience w/ them?

I've ranged between 210 and 220 (buck-naked) since I've been riding my Light Bicycle "wider 29" rims build with extra carbon. (I don't ride neckkid, so add 10-20 for geared up weight.)

I have bashed them thru rock gardens and over logs, rocks, drops, and they are in perfect condition after 1500 miles or so. You might buy for the spin up, but I'm betting you'll love the stiffness!

The so-called wider rims I have are only 23mm wide internally. They have wider rims now which I would love to have.

With regard to the derby rims -- he/they just got a nice endorsement from Ibis. They are a little more $$ than Light Bicycle, but I would definitely consider them.
