Would a hacksaw with some type of guide be ok to cut a headtube? Its got to be faced post weld anyway. Anyreason that wouldnt work.

if you had to, you could. use a guide and then square the ends with a file and square. be precise. pretend to be a machinist.

Lugged or lugless?
With lugs it really doesn't matter. Lugless only matters because that is the surface that will be locating on you fixture.

It would be lugless. Any suggestions? other then a lathe with a parting bit.

Use this as the exercise to learn one of the most important aspects of working with metal. Making a straight cut with a hacksaw is elementary and NEEDS to be learned. The problem is people just hack through the tube-- pun intended. Hacking through it is 20 seconds cutting and 3-4 minutes to file or mill it level. Cutting it correctly is a minute cutting and maybe a minute filing. In the end it's time and effort saved.
